Best Book for Dart frogs and setup

DKiM128 Aug 13, 2003 03:21 PM

I'm trying to ask for your opinion on what book will be the best in having all the set up, such as vivarium false bottoms, waterfall, and streams. Along with the description of frogs. If you can recommend a book that will help me a lot.

Frankly, there arent many that are going to give very much info on setups. Most are rather sketchy on this point. And, as far as descriptions are concerned, get them all. They all take a different angle, and have different info. Realize that this hobby hasnt been around for very long, and there isnt one "definitive" book on the subject. Just buy them all, read each one, read every post on this board (including the archives), construct what you believe to be the best tank, wait 2 more months and re-read everything. Then start culturing your feeders. Wait another month, then think about getting frogs.

As above-- There is not a "best" book yet. "Jewels of the Rainforest," is a wonderful picture book, but the taxonomy is outdated and it's very expensive. Neither does it give a lot of information on care and set-ups. The same author, Jerry Walls, also put out a hand book on dart frogs that is nice, but not complete, either. So you are just going to have to do a lot of web searches, and searches on this forum. I think this is the best one devoted to dart frogs.
