New Coastal Carpet Python?

_Houdini_ Apr 10, 2007 12:48 PM

I'm new to Carpets and had a question. I recently adopted a 9' female coastal that the owner gave up because "he didn't have time to take care of her". I had the vet check her and she says she's in great shape, but with her attitude, maybe a bit hungry. Well it's been 2 weeks now and she won't eat, but I'm not worried as she hasn't lost any weight! My question is this, she has already bit my foot,"ouch", and seems to be nippy and untrustworthy, can a snake that has already reached this size, make a dramatic temperment change? I know if you handle them when they are young they settle down, but how about when full grown? Regardless I will keep trying with her as she is just beautiful!
Thanks!

Unortunately no. She won't settle down, so I advise you to ship her to me. I will be happy to deal with her.
Just kiddin'

It is definately more difficult, however not impossible to tame an older carpet. Make her feel comfortable and secure. Hands off until she eats. May take a month or so...
Be patient.
Have fun, great looking animal!
