2nd litter of 07 D/U warning

styrsnake Apr 10, 2007 12:54 PM

Are those Salmon Jungles I see?

Nope!! Those are Salmon Abys from Big Mikes Aby line. These were produced from breeding a male Salmon Aby to my aberrant female.

They were born 109 days POS and there are 13 hypos and 10 normals (if you want to call them that). There were a total of 23 babies in the litter, 2 stillborn and 7 Slugs. Not bad for a 2001 female that produced 30 babies and 9 slugs last year and is only about 6 feet long.

There are two normals that are almost 100% striped.

This little guy still has some yoke left and I really hope he does alright.

Although there are some really nice hypos in the bunch, I almost want to say I like the normals better. I was really worried about this litter because my male was only 14 months old and maybe three feet, but looks like he did a stellar job.

Here is a picture of dad; he is a 05 Salmon Aby. Thanks Mike for hooking me up with this awesome guy.

Here is mom, she was purchased from Ben Siegel in 2001 as a baby.

She produced this little girl last year with a different male.

More current picture of 06 female.

As you can tell I am pretty siked about this litter. Can't wait till they shed out.
Take Care,
Steve

....that is the first time a Salmon Aby has been bred to a unrelated boa. I do have a gravid Salmon female that was bred by one of my Salmon Abys, so it will be interesting to see what the outcome is now!
CONGRATS on a killer litter!

Hey Mike,
I was hoping I would get a salmon like that one, the first thing I saw was the full striped normal. I was hoping that when I lifted thet paper to see the rest of them, there would be a nice striped salmon. Seemed like the normals in the litter are carring more of the Aby gene, as they seem to be the most aberrant. I will let you know how they are doing in a few days and post some more pics.

Congratulations! Thats a great looking litter and if you would have ran with the whole Jungle theme, it could have been believable. There are some looks in there resembling the Swedish Jungles. Have fun with your new boas!

John

The pattern varaitions are very dramatic. The striping is particularly striking. It will be interesting to see what the next generation from the striped animals produce. Congratulations on a great start to 07.

. . . to see those great looking babies. I will be having an Aby litter this year as well (not Hypo though). Congradulations, I really want to see post shed pics of all of them - not just the stripers lol.

Its funny you posted when you did. I was just looking over some pics that you had sent me awhile ago of yours when we were talking about Abys here on the forum. That one you have should produce some awesome babies for you. I love his clean look and nice colors. When is your female due? I couldn't believe my eyes when I first looked into the cage and seen the striped one in front. It will be interesting to see what comes out of your breeding. Make sure you post some picks.

My female is due in June. June 10th according to her ovulation date, or June 20th according to her POS date. She waited a little longer after ovulating before starting her shed. It's still too far away to get anxious, but after seeing your new litter, I'm wishing time would leap ahead. And yeah, I will post pics - the female is quite full looking now. But you just focus on caring for those of yours and charging your cameras batteries lol. Maybe we can do a little aby line barter to keep the bloodline strong, I'll take the striper ha ha.
