OT Tuesday.... my turn!

waspinator421 Apr 10, 2007 02:40 PM

What a great idea to share some OT pics for a change. As much as I love BRB, it is fun to see something different once in a while. Here is my contribution to OT Tuesday.....

I name each species of snake a different theme, let's see if you can guess what they are. Some are more obvious than others.

First up, my Variable Kingsnakes (Thayeri)....

This is my prize snake, Korben. He was the ont that got me all started.

Artax, a White Leonis female.

Leeloo, an Orangle Milksnake Phase girl.

Zoot, a little Pinner female.

And Sir Not-Appearing-in-this-Film (Sir for short). I know, I know, silly name. He is a little green Pin-Banded male.

Next are my Nelson's Milksnakes....

This is Hornet, a big and randy albino male.

Rebel, a wee little albino male.

Shadow, a female normal het that I hope is gravid.

Valkyrie, a nice albino girl, and a stubborn eater.

Here is my pair of Bull Snakes....

Hawker, an extremely sweet albino guy.

Socata, an Albino Whitesided girl. She's too funny, she gets all puffed up and hissy when she's in her bin, but is a sweetheart once she's out.

Ok, how about some California Kingsnakes...... sorry no theme here.

Beetlejuice, a Banded male.

Maraca, a reverse stripe male. This one I bought as a female, a little bummed to find out it was male... oh well.

Kang, a Striped Albino girl. Another one that was sold to me incorrectly sexed.

Kodos, an Albino Banded girl.

Here is my male Veiled Chameleon, Lucutis.

Here he is as a pipsqueak...

And, I don't have any good pictures of my pair of leopard geckos, but here is a picture of one of their offspring that I took last year.

Here, this one is just cute. He is my mom's cat, Tommy, when he was just a kit (several years ago). He was orphaned along with two other littermates, and we had to feed them milk with bottles.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed them!

I hope to see many more O/T threads being started today!

Ok, I didn't get most of the names but I'd guess the Thayeri group is from Fifth Element, and Kodos and Kang the Simpsons.
Was I right? Great pics by the way.
Milo

waspinator421 Apr 10, 2007 03:24 PM

Thanks Milo. You are close! Two of the names from the Thayeri group are indeed from the Fifth Element... but that isn't the whole group's theme. And yes, Kang and Kodos are from the simpsons, but unfortunately the whole Cal King group didn't get one specific theme. I started naming them before the themes emerged... oh well!

Korben and Leeloo gave it away. I found myself sounding them out like in the movie. What are the other names from?

waspinator421 Apr 11, 2007 02:52 PM

Well, since nobody else is guessing I'll give it away.

The Thayeri are all characters from movies, the Bulls are aircraft, and the Nelson's are motorcycles.

I am not to big of a fan of colubrids but your picture taking skills and/or camera is great though. My favorite pics were the chameleon, I have always wanted to get one of those things, and the pic when he was small just melted my heart so definately take an extra pic or two for me of him if you don't mind.

Thanks Bob! Yeah, he was a cute and feisty little guy as a baby. I'll take some more pictures for you soon, but for now here are a few old ones to hold you over.

Does he have any kids?? I really hate this OT stuff. I'm seeing all kinds of things to get that I just don't have room for

Thanks Rob! No, unfortunately he is still too young to breed. He is an '06 baby but is alreay 4 feet long! You would love Bull Snakes though, a very under-apreciated species I think. They have such personality! Their scales are also bumply, so it feels really cool when they slide around in your hands. Quite a difference from the Rainbows.

Aubrey,
..Great looking thayeri. I have never owned one but a friend of mine who shares my table at the Daytona show has produced a bunch of them and sells them there. It always bothers me to see such baeautiful snakes selling so cheap. It is unfortunate that so many of the colubrids are under appreciated.

Thanks Jeff. Yeah, some thayeri can be cheap, but some can also be expensive. I think it depends a lot on the pattern, and the bloodline. My Dan V. thayeri were not so cheap!
