I just love nigrescens. We have one on our exhibit and not only is he stunningly beautiful but has one of the most outgoing personalities that I have ever seen in a rattler. He follows everyone around that comes to his exhibit and that isn't an exageration (sure, he wants food, but he is also very inquisitive about folks looking at him). Neat snakes,

One of these was my first rattlesnake way back in 1977. A 4 foot male purchased from "The Shed" for, if I recall correctly, $40.00.

I kept him for almost 10 years till he unfortunatly passed and now rests peacefully in the herp collection of University of La. at Monroe. He still remains my all time favorite rattlesnake.

The two females I obtained were just this side of crazed however, in fact one of them was the cause of the big guys passing when she head bit him as he was being introduced to her. He looked ok at the time but just withered away afterwards.

Very nice animal Rob!

Great looking animal!

The Shed??? Now there's a memory!~ Got my first pair of young Cyclagras gigas from Louis & Joe. Since then, they've become Hydrodynastes. (Cyclagras, not Louis & Joe) I raised that pair of neonates, bred them & bred their young. And their young. Had that colony going for thirteen years.

I remember the first time I went in there and Joe spent about 2 hours while a 16 year old snake nut looked at every animal in the shop about 4 times before I finally bought a stub tailed Gopher Snake for $12.50...

Joe, if you can get this in Tanzania...thanks guy!

I remember the comment over the Atlanta Zoo reptile house PA "Shed list's here!" and all of the keepers swarming back to the office for the herp equivalent of the Sears Roebuck catalog arriving.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
