Good looking setup. I am working on my first. No Probs with that venus fly trap?
Nick
My thoughts exactly. I'd be worried about the frog getting caught in the trap and not being able to get out. I'd be even more worried if you had froglets hopping around in the tank.
The frog won't get caught in the trap. The traps are too weak to hold a frog and close slowly. I think what was meant is that Venus Fly traps need a drier, cool dormant period and don't seem to ever last long in vivariums. This is too bad, because otherwise, they would have lots of nice bug food. One could probably remove the plant and keep it in a cooler drier place for winter.
I know of some people who even have certain pitcher plants in with their frogs, and have posted photos of the darts actually sitting in the pitchers with no harm to them, although I shouldn't think this would be a good place to deposit tads.
Anyway, let us know how the flytrap does. It is mounted fairly high, so it may do better there.

it looks nice. some of your plants don't work well together in nature too often (fly trap and bromes)as they live in different areas and also, it's IME best to work with smaller plants of similar habitats and let them grow in. their internal switch seems to kick in and they do their best to live in that habitat you've built. grown plants often struggle...like a kid and an old man, who is okay with a new couch or home? the kid, grump old men as they say, anyway, i would say it looks fine but could use some redesigning some day.

Thnx,

if you could redesign, what would you do/change?
Plants are plants, not people. Mix and match and have fun!
Fun is the most important part of this.
Your setup is fantastic, I only wish I could get mine to look as good!

yea, i can see what they are saying about the venus fly trap though. im probably going to pull that out soon. where did you get your broms from iman?
I got my broms from Josh's Frogs and Lowes - Lowes actually has a nice selection of tilisandias.
Any local good gardening center should be carrying them now since we're into spring. If you live above I-20, you may have another month or two to wait!
Good luck...

If i could, with your tank, i'd take the plants out, find a felled root or such from a clean stream or field and soak it for days in RO, add some fern spores and let it dry. cut it to fit, set it in place and drill some smaller holes for root cutings, and plant. let it set up, with a water feature maybe then once i get stable temps, select the right bromes and drill for their placement, set and then wait again another week, add frogs and enjoy.
