Striped Charcoal Cornsnake (SMR) Image

KJUN Apr 10, 2007 07:59 PM

I picked up this striped Charcoal from Don Soderberg (South Mountain Reptiles) last weekend. I love him! He's REALLY blue, so the true colors are hard to see. Sorry about that, but I will follow up with better images in a couple of weeks.

Thats what I've been waiting to see. You always see the striped anerys but not charcoal. Nice. Any striped phantoms out there? That is my project to start on next year with my hypo stripes and phanotms that are growing like weeds.

That is the FIRST corn I've seen combining Charcoal with either the Motley or the Stripe genes. Congrats.

Pleeeease post photos of that fella as he grows.

I expect the Charcoal/Phantom Stripes and Charcoal/Phantom Motleys will be real stunners thanks to the 'Hypo-like' inlfuence of the Stripe and Motley genes.

Your Charcoal Stripe has nice colours and an interesting pattern for a Stripe. At first glance it looks like a Striped-Motley. But, since he DID come from DON I have no doubt your snake is a Stripe, and not a Stripe-Motley. (All comes down to the head pattern, and Don most certainly knows how to decipher which is which.)

Congrats again!

It isn't the best striped pattern, but the genes ARE there. PLUS, the charcoal coloration SHOULDN'T affect the stripe pattern, but with so few in existence, who knows??? I still like it.

Remember that "cubed motleys" are STRIPED corns and not the motley allele. This guy reminds me a little bit of that look. That's the give-away that it isn't a motley - PLUS the scale rows with the striped differentiate it from a true striped motley.

Thanks to everyone. I can't wait to see what it looks like in 6 months, either!
