What do you guys think about this egg?

vtec Apr 10, 2007 08:46 PM

One of our SHTCTB laid this 1.5 weeks ago, the one pictured is the fertile one and the other was infertile. At first we did not see any veins inside of it but we decided to incubate anyway and after about 3-4 days we finally saw a red spot inside. There has only been slight growth within the egg (redness) since we first noticed the appearance of red and I was just wondering if this was normal. Some other pics I see of candled eggs on the net @ 2 weeks appear to have much more growth inside.

Sorry about the crappy pic quality, we are using Albeys method and I didn't want to open the container and let the humidity out. There is no red on the other side of the egg or anywhere else (that I know of, I am candling through the lid of the container and cant see anything else). I will take the egg out and give it a bottom candling when I let fresh air into the container on wed.

The red spot you see in the egg is the only red spotveins that there are.

It means just let the little bugger incubate! You will not be able to tell for a bit yet so let it alone!

well i have the same problem with one of my 13 eggs. the egg that i have was one of my females first egg and was a sigle cluth or (non clutch i guess). this egg has not indented but it has not grown any veins. it is yellow when candled but white otherwise and has a sindle red line/vein. it has been a few weeks now and it looks bigger then it was however another set of eggs that were layed on the same day have so many veins it is difficult to candle now. this particular egg still only has 1 single red vein on the side of it. i am just calling it the living vein for now and hope if it does hatch it does not have any problems. it obviously is living but its just strange and i have a feeling it will eventually die. i would just leave it alone until it is obviously dead. this egg is also from a fattail and the others that were layed on the same day are leo eggs but it doesnt really make a difference because i have other fattie eggs that were layed later and have obvious veins everywhere. this egg is also being incubated for female.
