closedcasket88 Apr 11, 2007 09:25 AM

ive got a big goal to prove wether northern racers inhabit this area i live near, lotsa of housing and consttruction ruins habitat, andliving outside the city can make it quit crazy round here, i have posible proof of racers inhabiting some area of delaware county PA considering they caught one 2 years ago in cobbscreek golfcourse doing a wildlife count ,but them being nocturnal makes it a tad bit hard for me to go about finding .
i have lots of areas around here for me to hunt , ponds, marshes, creeks, flattwoodland ,hillside woodland , rockky hillside areas and such.
any info on elevation ,time of day , food sources to find them near, habitat preferrences and anything else that would make it easyer to drawl me closer to these guys would be appreciated .
if your curious to were i wil be going and spending most my time looking for these guys u can look inot "field notes and observations" for more info
thanx folks

These are diurnal hunters ,so you should be able to find them in the daylight if they are there!...good luck !!

Hi, I used to live in Levittown PA, and I used to catch some huge black racers near power lines near my mom's house. They defenetely used to be a good population of them in the 1990s.

I used to go and find them a bit north of Mill Creek Rd. on Edgely Rd. where there is a creek. If you come down Edgely, it will be on your right just before the creek bridge.

I had found up to 5 of them there, and also found the biggest garter I had ever seen in that area, about 5 feet long.

Hope this helps.
