Spoke to Todd at the number left for Teresa in Rick’s post down below, and he referred me to Matt at Carl Isetts office (512) 463-0676. I got the faxed copy just minutes ago. Everything is the same except for Sec. 620031, and the changes to Sec. 620031 are not good. Here it is:
Sec. 62.0031. HUNTING FROM PUBLIC ROAD OR RIGHT-OF-WAY PROHIBITED. (a) Except as provide by Subsection (b), a person may not hunt a wild animal or bird when the person is on a public road or right-of-way.
(b) This section does not apply to the trapping of a raptor for educational or sporting purposes as provided by Chapter 49.
I’ve been going to west Texas since 1987. I don’t know about central or east Texas, but the only areas that I’ve been to that are open to the public taking of nongame species are public roads and right-of-ways. I must be missing the other areas. In effect, hasn’t the committee “protected” the reptiles and amphibians that are known to occur only in west Texas? I think you guys in Texas better start working on exception (c), because I think I still have another masterpiece in me, “Nine is Fine!!!!!!!!!”
