Super Salmon and Salmon

teguohio88 Apr 11, 2007 10:58 AM

How do you tell the difference between the two? Most of the adds I see say possible Super Salmon. Is it only possible to tell by breeding the Salmon in question to a normal to see if you get all Salmons

Thats the only possitive way to tell seeing that in a hypo to hypo breeding 50% are hypos 25% are supers and 25% are normals. The supers tend to look better that the normal hypos with less black, look at their tails.

So there isn't like a tell tale sign that a salmon is a super salmon. The only reason I am asking is because I am picking up a potential dominant hypo male and I was wondering if there was a way of figuring it out, before I pair it up.

NO, the best thing I can tell you is look at their tail the cleaner the better (less black).

Well I got the snake the other day and I am trying to post a picture but I am not sure how to make the image into a url

to load them into the KS photo gallery. Sometimes you have to make them smaller first but once they are in there then its easy to post them.

Not always true. Although Homozygous Salmons (Supers) are usually cleaner, I have seen Heterozygous Salmons even cleaner than proven Homozygous. In fact, I own a very clean one.

Breeding is the only way to prove a Salmon is Homozygous or Heterozygous. Anything else is speculation IMO.
