Other than a beardie I'd go with leopard geckos, but I have them too!

So, my next reptile will be my final one, so I'm gonna say a monitor! no specifics just yet.

Almost all uro's in the us are wild caught and full of parisites. Not to mention they are from africa and have different diet requirements then beardies. Best thing to do is put them In a seperate tank.

they are easy to care for though, not as much personality as beardies in my opinion.

There are many captive bred Uro's in the US. I would never buy anything wild caught.

Uro's temp. requirements are different (higher) than dragons but regardless it wouldn't be a good idea to house them together.

beachbeardies Apr 12, 2007 01:50 AM

ive got beardies, a male sunburst x turquoise veiled chameleon, 2 cats, and a breeding pair of sugar gliders.

ive had ball pythons, burms, corn snakes, iguanas, anoles, geckos, etc.

No way uros and beardies can't be housed together. No 2 different species should be housed together anyways ever!!!

I also disagree with the personalities. Uro's HAVE WAY more of a personality then beardies do. Beardies are also a bit more lazy then uros. I have 2 beardies and a uro, trust me i know. I personally would trade almost everything i have for many many uros!!!

Yes there is also many CB uros in the US and alot of wc uros are not infested with anything, as i do have a wc uro and he is the coolest, funniest thing i own. I also have 2 wc ATB's which did have mites and yes i treated but they 2 are all fine and dandy!

Some people just have bad experiences with WC, but hey think about it almost every herp you have was once WC and everyone at one point was WC that everyone owned! So To me their is NO difference they are herps and i love them all. Not just CB which can be sometimes worse with imbreeding, then getting a wc is.

BDlvr Apr 12, 2007 11:02 AM

I don't believe in hobbyist's supporting wild caught.

LeoLady420 Apr 12, 2007 12:14 PM

Haha That's ridiculous.....Everything YOU own, was once wild caught so tell me what is the difference? You get a cb animal that you 99% of the time have no clue who breed it and how in breed it is. To me Seems like WC is way over rated and people just think wc eww mites and dieseases. Some of the most healthiest herps around are WC.

BDlvr Apr 12, 2007 12:39 PM

It depletes the animals in the wild. A few startups to well established breeders is acceptable.

LeoLady420 Apr 12, 2007 02:09 PM

Yea but it doesn't deface any value of the wc ones. That is also why their is being studies to keep a certain amount healthy in the wild to not make animals ENDANGERED!!

I think my next project is going to be some form of the leafy tailed gecko. They are so neat to watch. I also like the pigmy chameleons, They are so tiny.
