Hello I am traveling to Reno, NV and the Lake Tahoe area and then off to AZ in the end of may/june and was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to find and photograph herps. I am not a collector and just want to photograph the local herps. (herps of interest are Cal Kings, sidewinders, longnoses, Glossys, gophers, Atrox, and other rattlers)I am familiar and know theClark County, Laughlin area, however its the first time to Reno and Lake Tahoe. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good Fed/state parks or good road cruising areas in Reno or the surrounding areas. You can email me if you would like and i will be discreit about the secret hot spots. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated! Dave F(snakesdjf@yahoo.com)

Like you I enjoy field herpetology. I am not familiar with the Tahoe/Reno area but I am in Clark County. I have been trying to record Crotalus atrox in Clark County but have yet to be successful. I know they have been recorded as far north as Laughlin. I generally check around the Christmas Tree Pass/Grapevine Canyon areas. I was just curious if you have had any encounters with them. I usually head down to Laughlin every April or May for a day or two hiking and for the buffet at Harrah's.
