I have just noticed some tiny mites on my garter snake, how do i get them off and what can I use to clean its tank
I recommend complete change of substrate.
Use a steamer to steam any cage furniture.
Spray the tank with prevent-a-mite (outside if you can) and let it air for a few minutes. Then add water dish.
Use reptile relief sprayed onto a paper towel so the paper towel is damp, and wet the animal down with the paper towel but not the head.
I've done this with a young MBK that arrived with mites, with a WC alligator lizard that had ticks (I removed ticks by hand first, untwisting them) and with every new reptile just as a prevention. Never see a mite after treating an animal in this way, never see a mite outside my quarantine room.
LLLreptile has a deal where you can buy both products at once.
If an animal is in blue, do not apply it until it sheds.

Thank you for the help with the mites, we have bought some 'Natures REptile protector' and treated the snake last week then repeated three days later. Tank cleaned twice and substrate changed to newspaper.
But 'Squidward' still isn't eating anything. He used to eat 2 pinkies a week, but we are now in the 3rd week of him not eating at all? Is this normal, or do we still have some sort of problem?
Help required again please, children are starting to panic!!
