I have one remaining egg from the clutch that Elvis laid, it has a little mould growth on the top that I have been told I can wipe off with a cotton bud, it grows back every night, but I keep wiping it off gently in the mornings. Anyway, I put it into a new tub of clean vermiculite today, with bottled water, and took the lid off, but I candled it once it was in the new tub, for assurance I wasnt wasting my time.
Anyway, I can see a clear red blob directly underneath the mould, I dont know if it is a shadow or what, but then I saw for the first time a bright pink vein under the top of the shell too. I wonder, do the veins turn colour when dead? I'd think if it had live blood flowing through it would be pink, and if it was dead it would be brown or disintegrate right?
Any suggestions? IS this a positinve sign of life?
