Four questions

rpelaez Apr 12, 2007 05:52 PM

Just curious, I don’t know anything about east Texas.

What are the species of concern in east Texas that congregate on public roads and right-of-ways?

What are their specific problems?

Does this bill solve those problems?

What are feasible alternatives that more appropriately target the east Texas species of concern and leave all other species alone…bag limits (?), closed seasons (?) closed areas (?) w-h-a-t (?).

Thanks

R

Yes, any specific problem can be addressed but my conversation with Isett's office (and many other people too) show that they support the bill as is and plan to make no changes.

Remember, keep calling, one or two times a day from each of us and our family members will keep them busy and get their attention..... Long distance Lobbyist, hey it might work.

I faxed three letters to his office with powerful arguments. I'm done with Carl Isett. He can't continue to support this bill on its principles. Therefore, something else is driving his agenda. His introduction must have been a sham to get it into the legislative process under the radar and into the committee, where the language could be changed, meaning he was in bed with TPW right from the beginning. He's a sneaky little bastard and a sad excuse for a Republican. In fact, I referred to him as Marxist in my last letter, and I don't even know what a Marxist is. I completely lost it after I read your post about east Texas being the source of the problem. I sent a copy of my letter to Wayne - it's not for the sqeamish

Marxist??? How about Fuastian.

I think the species of concern here is Box Turtles, a species which TPWD will be closing to commercial collection as of Sept 1 anyway.

That makes this bill doubley offensive (actually it can't get anymore offensive) and Isett's support of it even more wrong-headed. I called him a Marxist because he wanted to 1) strip hunters of their liberty when wildlife populations were not at risk, and 2) deny significant economic benefits to hotels, motels, restaurants, gas stations convenience stores in small west Texas towns. But, maybe he's just a boob
