Horned Lizards

bast May 21, 2003 02:05 PM

I'd like to get some short-horned lizards (Phrynosoma hernandezi). I'd like to attemp to keep and even breed them. Does anyone know where I can get some?

Thank you,

Brian

They live here in MT, but populations are sparse and I'm not real sure of the legalities of shipping them out of state. They seem to have a hard time with humidity and moisture...not sure New England would be a haven for them. I have only found them in the hottest, most arid parts of the state. They seem to like cactus scrub on shale bluffs and in canyons. Anyway, back to your question =)...I've not often seen this species offered for sale commercially. You may try to contact one of the herp dealers in NV, like desertreptiles.com Worth a shot...good luck.
