Yes he does look a little rough, but that is not untypical of some WC snakes. He is in blue and most of that might "if not all" will go away after shed. Doesnt look like its affecting the overall health of the snake

Cool. I hope to have mine breed this year.
Here's a pic I took of my male today:

Now,That's a text book example of an eastern king!Nice!! Jeff
Howie, hands down, has the best eastern kings. Not only that, he's a good guy and gets out in the field, too.

It is good to see my fan club out there in force. Dave, how the heck are ya. true, I get out in the field as much as possible, but whether I have good fortunes is another matter. The weather was awful on my annual okeetee/georgia/florida trek last week. All we saw was a few gators, pond turtles, fence lizards, anoles, and the ass of a gopher tortoise snailing his way into his burrow. But theres a certain electricity about being out in the field that cannot be explained unless you get out there yourself(which Dave, I hope we get to do one of these years). Of course that electricity could be explained by the power lines I stepped on , but thats another story under the "stupid things I have done forum". Howie
....how is it you get down to FL and I don't get a call??
I see how it is....
How's the breeding this year? Mine's hit and miss so far. I think thie crazy weather has something to do with it.

it is a lil crazy in Fl. The breeders are either too cold or when its warm they are blue, then theres feeding between that,at least in my parts it too(breeding) has been hit or miss, btw as i type there is another cold front starting to storm outside as im sure you know. L8r batton down the hatches...Chris
The same is going on with mine.
The front (rain)just passed here. Very quickly and now the winds are increasing... Why can't this stuff happen during my work week?

at least you didn't step on a nail and jump around a cuss like a fool untill you impaled yourself on another one!
Been there Tony. While photographing copperheads in n. FL I did just that. Not that I'd try it, but I hear copper bites aren't as bad as a big ol' rusty nail!
yeeeeooooww!

With a wild caught you never know. When was it caught? he might shed it off.
Also, scales can get pretty weird if the snake is too dry cause the humidity is not correct. I personally wouldn't keep him on sand. Maybe that would help.
