Asian Ratsnake?

herpguy24 Apr 14, 2007 09:14 AM

I'm a little confused. Is an Asian Ratsnake(I think its also called a Mangrove ratsnake) venomous? I've been told that there rearfanged, but then someone else told me all rat and corn snakes are rear fanged. I believe the coloring is red, dark blue, and yellow diamonds, but I could be way off.

there are many species of "asian ratsnakes", and none fit the description you posted. Also, the mangrove snake is a rear-fanged animal that can be dangerous. it is black and yellow

It could be a Mandarin Ratsnake that you are thinking about. It is gray with yellow diamonds and some red between the scales. Search for Mandarin Rat images online. It is not rear-fanged, it is harmless.

There is a Mangrove Snake (Boiga dendrophila) which is rear fanged. It is black with yellow diamonds as well. Search for photos of that online.
