New Small Beardie Not Basking Much........

Doppleganger Aug 13, 2003 09:11 PM

I just recently got a new baby beardie (tiny) and I haven't seen her doing much basking under her heat lamp. She did it lots the first couple of days, but since I switched the day bulb for a black night bulb she hasn't been over there much.......could it be the bulb she doesn't like? The basking spot ranges from 95-102F (I have a digital temp gun).........could it be that she just likes the other end of the cage better?

Daylight bulb is better for her and the temp needs to be higher than that. You should have it around 105 -110. If your using a temp gun, take a surface temp on the basking site and that should be around 115

Hope this helps

OK, I will raise the temps......just to clarify...I have a full-spectrum light over the cage as well as the basking light.
