ballpython22 Apr 15, 2007 05:40 PM

i've had the snake for about 3 weeks now and about three days after i got it into the new tank it Regurgitated a mouse. i didn't think anything of it at the time because i heard they do that sometimes. i got it another mouse and it did eat but after like 4 days it happened again. its been about a week so i tried to feed it again but does not look interested at all but the snake looks as if it lost weight. i have no idea what i should exactly do. anyone want to help?

Do not try to feed it again for at least 2 weeks since the last regurg, The stomach needs time to get its self right again. It should not lose to much weight in this time. when you do feed it I would go a little smaller than normal. Balls cab go a long time with no food and be just fine. What kind of set up do you have? Heat? Hides? Humidty. That will also help if you can post that..

i have a heat pad under the tank. i'm not exactly sure how hot that gets, the tank ranges from 80 to 95. the snake has two places to hide and has a big water dish that she could easily fit into to soak. Humidity i have a problem with. for some reason i can not keep it up good enough. THe tank is definitely a good size not exactly sure the gallon amount. She still is active and moves around. handling wise i wanted to let her get comfortable with her surrounding before i handled her. as time went on for a couple of days however i started trying to get her use to being handled. the second time it regurgitated i cleaned the tank and the next day it happened. i hope this helps for me to get info.

Like Melindaste said, we need a bit more information to help you more.
First off, if the snake looks like it's obviously losing weight, take it to a vet. They can check for parasites or some other cause for the weight loss.
Second:
What are your temps? Don't just say "they're fine", humor us and tell us what they are If you don't know I recommend you do what you need to do to find out, because that's an essential part of keeping reptiles. How big is the cage? How old is the ball python? How big is the ball python? Where did you get it from, and do you know if it's captive bred, wild caught, etc? Do you know what the store was feeding it before you got it? Does the snake have multiple hides, one hide, no hides? Big water bowl, little bowl, no bowl?
And, most importantly:
Have you been handling the snake at all? If so, when, and for how long?

About six years ago I purchased my first snake(mexican rosy boa) from pet store. I had the same problem with it except that it regurgitated the mouse back up the same day. I took the snake to the vet and turned out that it had a growth in its stomach. I returned the snake and needless to say I don't purchase snakes from there or any other pet store anymore. I'm NOT a vet and I'm NOT saying that this is what is wrong with your snake. I just thought that I would share a past experience with a similar problem.
