New observed behavior

roadspawn Apr 15, 2007 05:42 PM

My female beccarii has been hanging out in the nest box with her head poking out. She does this half of the day then retreats completely inside. It kind of looks like a bird hanging out in a nest. The nest box is a regular wooden bird nest box "rectangluar with hole". Don't know if she is trying to tell me something. Any ideas? Thanks

That's actually pretty normal behavior. Monitors don't want to come out to heat up if they can just hide and heat. It's safer. That's the point of the plywood stacks, hollow logs, rock caves under the basking areas, bird boxes like you're using ,etc.
