zomg new format!

j3nnay Apr 16, 2007 08:38 AM

Did anyone else get totally thrown off by the new format and spend five minutes trying to find the link to the forums?

Its all very pretty, though.

Yes I did.. I hate when things change.LOL

zefdin Apr 16, 2007 10:22 AM

I really like the tab features @ top. You can see everything in one glance...I was always hitting the link above or below the one I wanted before - not anymore.

j3nnay Apr 16, 2007 10:33 AM

Yeah, I do like it, it just took me forever to figure it out, haha. Just so used to that giant block of text links.

I absolutely love how quick the whole site switched over to the new format. Lotta sites will just shut down for a day or five while putting everything up.

I too hate change. Just when I get use to something, there it goes changing. I spent alot of time trying to work with my photo gallery too. I guess in a month I should have it down, but they may change it again. Oh well. There could be alot worse, why complain, it only brings other people down or they may just avoid you alltogether.

Worked just fine the way it was b4........if it aint broke.......DONT FIX IT!

toshamc Apr 16, 2007 10:39 AM

LOL - at first I thought I was on the wrong site - but I like it - it looks nicer, more together, easier to work with.

Except I am a little confused as to why they put the stuff that used to be at the top of the page (the different pet hobby boards) below the banner and the tabs that we use more on this board at the top? Seems like you'd want them the other way around? Or maybe thats just me.

the forum text is greatly reduced compared to the old format..though there are many ways to adjust the font size via windows and browser settings...but in this setup, you would get HUGE text for everything else, and still have to hunt to find the important stuff...iknstead of the money generating stuff...

I know if I found this site now..I would not come back, strictly because i wouldn't even notice the forums and other features...as it looks like part of a banner ad, like many I have seen in the past, which I always ignore...and since the site title is hidden up there too, I wouldn't even notice what site it was, if I just found my way here randomly.

raisnok Apr 16, 2007 05:58 PM

well ill be i never knew the scroll button and the ctrl button would do that.

thanx tosha!!!!

I hate it...requires way to much mouse movement...and too much greater chance of clicking on that big banner on top instead...and it looks like the cheesy banner ads on just about every crappy spyware riddled website out there...

The advertising is now the biggest and first thing you notice...it is hard to even know the name of the site, since the name is now barely bigger than all the sales advertised... its kind of sad how kingsnake is now more interested in promoting their sponsors than knowledge...

melindaste Apr 16, 2007 12:36 PM

I do not like that everything is off to one side I have to keep sliding it over just to read everything..

GOPConspiracy Apr 19, 2007 12:56 AM

OMG you are so right - its ALL about the sponsors now. The worst though are those big banners they are running for Junior Acheivement! Its all a plot! You know that the republican party actually pays them a bounty for each kid they sign up. And the younger they are the more they get paid! Yeah them PetHobbyist people are driving Ferraris and eatin Quiche every day and doing it by selling the souls of our children to the Republicans, turning em all into capitalists!

What about the children!

Who will save the children!

-John

heat Apr 16, 2007 09:48 PM

Me! I will. I don't have any of the listed stores.

I don't mind helping out a college kid, lol. Maybe a little cash to feed the snakey kids this week.

I'm betting Jenny does not part with this tshirt though.

Maybe she will ebay it, LMAO!!!!! Kidding!!

j3nnay Apr 16, 2007 11:00 PM

Nope, I'm gonna cut it up and make it fit in skankalicious fashion. Did the same thing to a harley shirt last year and it worked like a charm. :D

I like how easy it is to click on the classifieds button, but otherwise, it doesn't look or seem right to me either.

Maybe we should try & complain to their new marketing person, lol! Maybe this is just the beta version, lmao!!

It's just like any other form of change.....

It's different now....in a few days it will be like clok work!

They are still hung up on getting every click they can so they haven't changed to decent forum software. Like others have said, the navigation buttons do look like banner ads. The change to a wider format gives them more advertising space. Do you see a reoccurring theme here?

You can increase the size of the text in internet explorer by clicking: view, text size, larger, largest, etc.

The wider format actually makes some of Ralph's banners look worse. The pictures look fuzzy because they were designed to be shown at a lower resolution.

midnightherps Apr 16, 2007 10:40 PM

Change is rarely welcomed. People usualy dont like change because its change, but most of us will likely innevitably get used to it and maybe even like it just fine when we realize it isnt realy that drastic of a change after all. Then we can have a whole new thread about how everyone has accepted it and decided they like it.

You guys know Im right....just playin w/ ya'll

This breeding season has realy humbled me. I hope the rest of you have had a lot of fun and success this year. Breeding snakes is pretty educational and humbling.
Peace
Brendan
