most folk like to use a sandy substarte so it will soak up some of the fecal matter but reqires a bit more up keep , have two or more heat lamps(UVB lights) along with UVA lights allot of people are using the reptile UV lights the 60 non ballst kit, $70 each with UVA set up's thats how i would do it , and yea if you have a relaxed male that should be fine cause there wont e any territorial issues if you have a agressive male i would watch out for a few days to make sure everytihng is fine...

i currently use newspapers but they are a real hassle, sand will not cause impaction? im guessing not seems to be what most rhinos are on, as long as im careful feeding. i do not understand the lights u are talking about. right know im using 2 repsun 8.0s and 2 uv heatlamps but this is on a cage so it a little eaiser.

here is where my rhino lives. Rubbermaid dog house (no longer made)
makes for easy cleaning. I added the polyurethane curtains. I use turf, easy to clean and I replace it periodically.I also use those absorbent pads for oil clean up in garages under the turf. the light is a 90w flood. I dont use any UV. dont need it.
