new to hognose

jhoward007 Apr 16, 2007 05:43 PM

I just bought my first hognose yesterday at a local show. He is wonderfully tempered and very calm. Anyone have any tips that I should know. I am used to kings and corns so this guy is a little different im sure. Oh... He ate his first meal after being home for a half hour. Unscented f/t pinkie!
Thanks,
Jay

what kind of hog? I found my western hognoses to be similar to kingsnakes, I feed them weekly they have strong appetites most of the time. they do like to dig in there substrate more than my king so I give them abou 4 inches of aspen and and a few hide spots. they are one of my favorite snakes.

Sorry forgot to add that he is a Western. He is great and has quickly became my second favorite snake. He is super friendly and unlike my kingsnake, does not strike at my wife.
