breeding status....getting worried.help

closedcasket88 Apr 16, 2007 10:02 PM

ok, i have a pair of emory rats, the male is albino and female regular , the male emory is also gonna pair up with female amel corn. and i also have a trio of everglades rats goin.
i moved into a new house and could only find a spot about 55 to 60degrees but i onlybrumated them for about a solid month ,moving made evrything go in late so i tried making up for it ,i figured theeverglades are very southern and corns can just be cooled downfor breeding but im kinda worried bout my emoryis with brumation length and how fertile they be.
im more worried about them breeding in general. ive seen some "kinkage" but its mostly from all my females.
my amel emory is nto showing much signs and my male everglades is not showing much signs either.
all the females are respondly good and twitchin up n kinkin up on them. i even cover there cage and give them privacy and make sure i have a peephole but i still see nothing ,it doesnt get any firther than a littel kinkage. ive occasionaly seen twiching from the males but it never gets any further than that .
on rainy days i make sure there paired up the day b4 during and after the rain and leave my house windows open and give them a littel spray to mimic spring a little bit more .
all the females have shed .my female regular emory shed twice since shes been out but stil dont even look close to gravid .they beenout for a month and a half or so and all females have shed a week or two after comign out of brumation so theyv had plenty of time to get there groove on .
im going to throw an egg box in my reg emory rats cage just incase but i do not suspect anything.
any thoughts? suggestions? am ijust paranoid and worried?

also,i use aspen bedding .so i cant see any love stains too well.
im going to shred up some paper in themix to possible catch any "leakage" or watever uwould call it.
im currentlyhurtin on money and i cleaned all there cages b4 i took them out of brumation so im not about to change the aspen to newspaper just yet, ide like to get my moneys worth of bedding
any other suggestions would be useful
thanx again

Sometimes females will refuse the male till after the second post hibernation shed. Keep putting them together and they will eventually breed..

well its the males that arent realy showing any interest and im worried if it takes too long for the females to have a second shed than time and heat would lower the sperm count in the male. am i right? this is just an assumption . but i think i heardsomewre not to keep the males too hot til your certain theyv done there thing.

Not wanting to state the obvious, but are you 100% sure your males are males. I have bought animals from reputable breeders as one sex and it turns out to be the other. Even the best can make mistakes sometimes. Just a thought.
