Red Pigmy Rattler is giving birth!!!

Gsc Apr 17, 2007 10:01 AM

I woke up this morning to find my female CB'03 Hyde Co., NC, Carolina Red Pigmy Rattler giving birth. So far I can see at least four babies and she's still very large and having contractions. I had been expecting babies for some time now... FINALLY! The batteries on my camera are recharging but I was able to snap a few pics that I'll post once I get them resized!

Have a wonderful day!

It's been 9 hours and she's still droping babies... 18 so far ...only 9 are alive. I didn't calculate out an approx birthing time (which I should have guessed) and fed her a large mouse last week (mistake)...this may account for the large number of full term dead babies (many of the deceased aren't coming out in sacs...)... Oh well...9 live ones...I'm stoked!

Have you had to feed any babies yet? How's it going with them?
