In order to educate ourselves about the process, another thing we really need to try to find out - what factor killed it?
- was it our phone calls/emails/letters?
- was it the round ups?
- was it pressure brought to bear by us indirectly (I know a few people who were trying to pull strings behind the scenes)?
- was it TPWD itself that discouraged the bill? I know for a fact that there are folks in TPWD that are opposed to it - possibly their voices were heard?
- was it pressure from academia focused on conservation efforts?
- was it some combination of the above?
We need to know these things as much as possible so that if future legislation comes around, we can more appropriately focus our efforts.
