I was working in the yard the other day and saw a small solid black snake with one yellow ring below the head area and it has a yellow/white under belly. I'm in McDonough,GA. Anyone know what type of snake this is??

Based on your description, I believe it's a ringneck snake. I haven't encountered them enough to distinguish between subspecies, but they are non-venomous and generally not aggressive.
sounds like a ringneck and from your location I'd say southern ringneck (diadophis p punctatus)
wayne
thanks for the info.
