Looking for Literature

Wendingo Apr 17, 2007 08:40 PM

Hi, I was reading an old issue of Reptiles magazine and they did a feature on dwarf boas. One set of boas in particular caught my eye. Trachyboa Gularis(Ecuadorian Eyelash Boa) and Trachyboa Boulengeri(Northern Eyelash Boa). Ive been looking for more info on them but I keep reaching a dead end. If anyone has any literature on them, or knows where I can find some it would mean a great deal. Thanks.

They are no longer classified as "true boas" but that's all I have been able to learn.

I used to have a picture of both but have since lost them.

Tropidophis, Ungaliophis, Sand, Rosy, Rubber, and Round Island boas have all also been removed from "true boas" leaving Boa, Acrantophis, Corallus, Epicrates, and Eunectus as true boas. I'm not sure where Candoia fall.

A paper re: the re-classification - http://www.cnah.org/pdf_files/230.pdf
A page with pics of the Northern Eyelash Boa - http://home.earthlink.net/~itec5/Serpentes/Boidae/Trachyboa_boulengeri.html
Here is a list of specimens/observations of Trachyboa boulengeri from colleges (they might be able to help you with more info) - http://www.europe.gbif.net/portal/ecat_browser.jsp?taxonKey=337626&countryKey=0&resourceKey=0
A copy of the Reptiles Magazine Article - http://www.animalnetwork.com/reptiles/detail.aspx?aid=1328&cid=595&search= has a list of references, but unfortunately most of those articles and papers are not available on the web.
