What is wrong with our boa?

sassygal_64 Apr 17, 2007 09:35 PM

We had a red tail boa constrictor to die this morning. She was full grown and around 10 or 11 yrs old. We had her since she was 8 yrs old. For a year she has had a knot/lump on her side and recently we noticed she has gotten several through out her body. Has anyone ever had this and know what it is and if and how it can be treated if it shows up in any other snakes? We took her to a vet once and just didnt get no satisfaction so never returned but when she went bad she went fast. Also whatever this is can it be transmitted to other snakes?
thanks in advance for any info

Ive never personally seen this in a snake so I dont know if what I have to say is anything close to it. But my dog had died a couple of years ago from a bunch of lumps that started to appear all over its body. It started out with one lump and probably turned into about 100 or more lumps the size of a quarter. The vet said it was Sists or Cists I dont know how to spell that word. Idk if that is the same thing on your snake but I figured I would just mention it since it sounded familiar to what happened to my dog.
