Hello all.

Has anyone noticed yet that these laws are all hitting at once and are VERY similar. IA and OR use almost the same wording. Hmmm wonder how that happened. Same exact species being banned!

It is not to hard to figure out who the puppets are OUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN!

I would call this WAR like tactics going on Nation wide!!

Why are we herp keepers being lumped into Tigers and bears. let's see 4 inch canine teeth designed to kill in one bite vs. 1/2 inch teeth designed to grasp.

We are asking REXANO to the rescue but that may not be a wise choice. We are keeping Harmless reptiles. that could easily get lumped into a category of seriously life threatening animals!!

Why do Herp keepers not have their OWN VOICE? There are enough herp societies out there. Yet we are going to go passively into extinction!!

You know what it is. MONEY! We are so dependent on Money from our reptiles that we are dissociated and self absorbed. There are millions of dollars being made every year in the herp industry and yet we do not donate to a common good.

Where is the NARBC in all of this are they acting on our behalf or any one of a hundred other reptile shows across the country.

WE COULD LOSE IT ALL!!! That is what PAWS and PETA's true agendas are. Our ENEMY is organized and powerful (obviously). And what is the herp community as a whole. Self reliant.

We are many in number and yet weak in soooo many ways.

Peta and Paws are well funded and so are the congressmen!!

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN and SENATORS. everyone from anole keepers to pythons. I MEAN EVERYONE with a single reptile in their home needs to call.

Dear Littleherper.

-you are contradicting yourself, on one hand you say AR groups are powerful and organized, but on the other hand you advocate herp people to remove themselves from he rest of the exotic community, you advocate division among us to weaken us.

-captive big cats kill one person per yer, reptiles 1.5, yes, most are venomous or constrictors. You advocate removing YOU, harmless animal owners, from big cat owners, maybe u need to take the division further to help AR accomplish their goal of 'divide and conquer' , remove harmless reptiles owners from the big constrictors, crocs and venomous owners to fight this insanity? (insert sarcasm, no, I am not agreeing with you at all, divided we fall).

Small harmless animals, not just reptiles, have been in the 'ban bin' for as long as tigers, reasoning cited being zoonotic diseases, and since there are more small than big aniaml owners,and since AR want to remove all animals in captivity (regardless of size since this si NOT really about public safety for them, AR don't care about human life, it is just a guise), you need to open your eyes and never ever advocate another division among any animal owners, farm, domestic or exotics. We are all in it together, have you looked lately at the horrible laws they are passing against dog owners too???

PS: you might be interested knowing that in addition to tigers and lion, I do OWN harmless reptiles, have for last 20 years, so you can not get rid of me and REXANO easily

Actually, it is not Peta, it is HSUS and API who recently joined forces, that is why these bills have the same wording, same sample API written bill being circualetd in different states.
API gained 'credibility' by joining with HSUS, who has still (unfortunately) respect among uninformed public who confuse them with local humane societes.
One of OR bill sponsors told me it was HSUS who approached them about this bill and he said he took it seriously because HSUS is a 'respected group', yes, legislators are not very well educated about the AR threat and propaganda.They deal with too many bills and issues to be insider on each of them.

Hi Zuzana et all, I will not get into a debate with you on whether or not a person should keep Big cats etc. We will need to agree to disagree. What I am saying is that Herp keeping in the USA is MULTI-Million maybe pushing billion dollar business. There is NO reason that the herp community needs to sit back and watch this happen, Merely because we are disorganized. Frankly, if rexano is strong enough they should sue each individual state for violation of rights. Not to mention sue HSUS. Take it to the Us supreme court if they have to as a violation of constitutional right. The Herp community could do the same but they are not organized enough to be considered a power unto themselves. And a group calling themselves the HS attempted to pass regs in the county I live in that would have banned every animal except cats and dogs. EVERY ANIMAL!! even fish! (exception being farm animals on farm property) Fortunately A private herper familiar with the law stepped up to bat and blew the bulk of it out of the water. They did this very quietly and underhandedly. IT almost worked. Oh and the community I live in has long ago banned all constricting snakes on the same City council reg that banned Tigers etc. SO they can easily lump harmless with dangerous. God Bless, Lee <

OK, I will attempt to explain one more time.
You with your fear of big cats are not any different than others with their fear of ALL snakes, not just big or venomous ones.
You choose to draw your line of what is acceptable with big cats and only defend your right to keep your snakes, most people draw the line with their domestic cats and dogs, and are scared of your small snakes even tough you are not.

This is all NOT about rational fear or facts, this is all based on irrational fear, the way you irrationally fear properly caged big cats is the way your community irrationally fears small snakes, your way of arguing&fearing is the same like theirs.

The way I am having trouble convincing you to STICK with BIG cat owners and help support us,(even though u do not wish to own one) is the same way your community resist you trying to convince them not to fear snakes.

Stop thinking about what you want (small snakes and who cares what happens to the rest) and concentrate NOT on what you want personally, but what is worth fighting for in the big picture: sticking together, protecting our rights to keep any animal in a responsible manner, this I America for gods sake.

As for reptile community uniting, GREAT IDEA, why don’t you stop whining about it and start the uniting process yourself, what is preventing you from taking the lead? Instead of wasting time complaining, put this energy into some constructive leadership.

Too many people in this world keep saying “sky is falling, ‘somebody’ should do ‘something’, but all of these complainers are too lazy to do anything, most people just whine and whine and whine and expect others to do the work for them.

As for REXANO, sorry, we can not file lawsuit in every state at this stage, there is only so much we can do in 24 hour day, and do work for everybody while you whine. At this stage, we can give you free tools, statistics and advice, but you have to do the work yourself, to translate: if you have a potty problem, I will gladly help you find a store that sells diapers and help you read instructions on how to install/wear it, but under no circumstances will I go to your house to wipe your rear end and change the diapers, sorry, it is YOUR job, not mine.
