Thanks everybody on WTF help!

Voltron23 Aug 13, 2003 11:11 PM

Well, the subject says it all... thanks everybody that helped with my WTF's problems. I moved them up into a 20 gallon, and made PLENTY of hiding spots, now the only problem is... they hide too well!!! That's fine, as long as the two are happy in there. Now, I'd like some further advice on care of the WTF. Anything at all, other than a URL or HTML to another website is greatly appreciated. Tips such as: what should they be fed, how often, a good temperature... etc, etc. Anything is appreciated as said before!!! Oh yeah, my WTF's are finally green!

Thanks again,
Ryan

Yae green means happy, well mst of the time anyway lol.

Basically I feed my wtf (I have two) I feed them 6-8 crickets twice a week. ie/Feed them on Tuesday and feed them on Fridays.
The rule of thumb here is not to feed them as much as they will eat at once because these guys will keep on eating and eating.

Some people may think thats not enough but my guys are no where near skinny!!!!

Humidity for these guys needs to be around 40-50%. They are not big humidity lovers. Sometimes in Summer the humidity can rise a bit and they will handle it but prefer to hover around 45%.

As for temps they need to have about 27 degrees C in the daytime and no lower than 16 degrees C at night.
Heat lamps are good for heating. Heat pads are crappy as they don't heat the air in the tank which is what you need.
Don't heat the water either because they soak to cool off as well as drink.

Um thats all I can think of for now, I'm sure others will elaborate more.

wtf girl has covered most of the specifics, but about the water area, it can be heated. frogs must have a thermal gradient eg: warm side, cool side. it really depends how your set-up is.

in the wild the ponds etc the frogs are close to are usually around 20c , so there water source is quite warm.

cold water is fine aswell

OK Lke is right about the water bit also but I didn't mention that because usually the water is about room temp anyway so unless your room is very cold you wouldn't need to heat the water.
I have never heated the water because I find that combined with the room temp and the heat lamp, the water is pleasant.
