An update on my Yellow rat project...

Jeff Schofield Aug 13, 2003 11:16 PM

I havent posted anything here in a while so I figured I'd let you guys know that I may FINALLY figure out the genetics on this line. It started with a wc albinoXwc aneryth and the first F2 breeding produced these along with LAVENDER albinos! Well, last year wasnt so good for morphs as the original parents'eggs were subjected to high heat. For the first time the F3s are breeding so I should be able to see which are albinos, snows, and all the other(8!)combinations. Problem is they are look so similar as hatchlings due to juvenile patterns, lol. As they hatch out I will post some pics as the F2s have turned into some of the nicest ratsnakes I have seen(some purple, some bright yellow/orange,etc). I just hope I have better luck than last year. What's the difference between albino and anery? And what makes them lavender? If you have any pics of what you're talking about that would be great. I love yellow rats.

Well, the aneryths are gray with black(but do have SOME brown/yellow), the red-eyed are yellow/white with red eyes and the LAVENDERS are purple/orange with lavender eyes. All combinations are possible with this line so even I dont know what each will look like yet. The hets do stripe out and are PURE YELLOW but not matching locales. I will post pics when I can as the F3s are finally morphed out to what these should look like......if only I knew which was which(lol)as too many genes have jumped in at once so it will take some sorting.Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Do you know what the origin of the anerthyristic yellow ratsnake was? (Where was it found).
Any idea where I could find a pic of it? I don't think I've ever seen a anerthyristic yellow rat and you've sparked my curiousity.
Thanks,
Chris

The original WC parents that is. I was told that the aneryth was from Palm(?)co. and the albino was a northern locale. There was only one breeding. Dwight has his own version of each animal that I have.I recieved these F2s as hatchlings (as well as all the F1s)from Don Soderberg. I did my research on these to make sure they were 100% yellow. There are at least 2 different lines of both albino and aneryth in yellows and I want to say these are not compatable to those most(including Dwight)are working with.I am crossing a F2 LAVENDER male with his F2 red-eyed sister(who should be 66%het LAV)as well as another sister. I should have at least some DOUBLE albinos as well....if only I can figure out which is which as hatchlings!LOL,Jeff
