Tweaked pics 101.......

rainbowsrus Apr 18, 2007 11:32 AM

Since I started this a couple of days ago, I've heard back several times both in KS and through emails so I thought I'd put together a few pics to show what can easily be done to tweak pics into better than real looking animals.

This is an original pic of Lon, Only adjustment made from the original JPEG was to resize it down to fit size rules on the KS pic gallery.

As you can see, it's a bit dark and lots of un-necessary border area.

Here's the same pic, cropped, color balanced, a bit of fill light to bring it back up to normal colors and sharpened. IMO, this is what Lon really looks like. He's an average color (ok, maybe a bit below average but didn't want to hurt his feelings) baby BRB. Nothing stunning about him except the crazy blushing to his side patterns.

The same pic again, this one I played with everything to get it tweaked as high as I could get it without making it super obvious. IMO, still pretty obvious it's not real but there is a middle ground where he looks better than real but not unreal.

Thanks,

Cool post. I was going to say that it's hard to believe that peeps would mis-represent a reptile they are trying to sell but it's really not. In my humble opinion one's reputation is key when breeding reptiles. No quicker way to ruin that than to be doctoring up your photos.
