Seeking locality copperhead photos & more.....

gila7150 Aug 13, 2003 11:27 PM

I've been working on a non commercial copperhead website. It will basically be a site for copperhead enthusiasts with info on the different ssp, locality specific photo galleries, field experiences/observations, personal accounts of envenomations, etc.) I've received some great submissions from a lot of people but I'm always interested in more...
I'm looking for:
- locality specific copperhead photos (I'm especially short on phaeogaster but I'm interested in all ssp.)
- photos of exceptional or unusual copperheads (melanistic, patternless, striped or aberrant, etc)
- personal accounts of copperhead bites (be as descriptive as possible...include treatment you received if there was any.
- personal experiences / observations from the field.
...or anything else you think might be interesting to other contortrix enthusiasts.

You will be credited with any submissions so please include your full name if possible. Please include locality and ssp info with photo submissions (county if possible). You can send large pics...I can resize them as needed.
You can email me at gila7150@earthlink.net
Thanks in advance,
Chris Raden

Holly Cow! taht was amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing.

How's about some details? 1. age/size/weight of mom and dad? 2. what did you do to get them to breed?

3. keep us up-dated on what meals they start eating. I know with my neonate pigmy rattler, all I have to do is warm up mice pinkies to above room temp (to 98.7 deg F) to get a strke and a feed.
(when pinkies are cold, the neonates don't strike).

good luck! Cheers.

That's alot of babies for a copperhead. She's really nice too. Very unique looking northern. I had a female from KY last year that had 6 babies for me but she didn'tlook like that. She was stone gret with rust colored bands and a bright yellow head. Her babies looked like those though. Anyway, congratulations.

Hey Chris, I'm from Missouri and have numerous phaeogaster slides, babies and adults. I plan on having some select slides scanned to disk this fall. You would be welcome to use any of them if you don't mind waiting. email me if you are interested. Mike goshawk00@hotmail.com
