Shaking after birth?

eric27 Apr 18, 2007 04:46 PM

Hey I was wondering if this behavior has been seen with anyone else;
My female laid a clutch of 22 this morning, I later removed the eggs and put them in an incubator. She has since rolled up in a spiral where she laid the eggs and has been sporadically twitching (the whole body). This is new terrain for either of us.
Thanks.

She actually has stoped twitching quite a bit since I posted the last message. I guess she was just tired.
Does anyone know how long I should wait until I can put my male back in the aquarium. (They have always lived together and currently have no spot for him)
Thanks

interesting observation. those are called instincts... if you were to keep the eggs in the cage with her, she would have coiled around them, the twitching is part of thermo regulating the temperature of the eggs.

Best of luck on hatching em.

What you have to do is give her a bath and clean out the enclosure completely. You do this to remove any smell of the eggs. I have had to do the last 2 years with my IJ. They just keep smelling the eggs.
