cause for concern?

i got my leo out about 20 mins ago to try feed him mealie smush, and i noticed he's been sat in his hide since i'd been home. when i got him out i saw what looked like a bit of dead skin on one of is back legs on the inside of the knee joint, but a closer inspection (he was nice enough to lay still while i softly held him on his back) and it looks like he's cut himself somehow. it's only a little cut, although the skin around it is "fraying" a little bit. i didnt realise this last time i got him out, and dont want it to turn infectious or anything. will the cut be fine n heal on its own or will i need to get him to the vet asap? he doesnt look uncomfortable, doesnt keep shuffling and can still walk and jump onto my face fine, and doesnt have a limp or a gimpy walk, but i'd rather know what to do. google didnt help at all, anything less specific and i would have been even furhter away from an answer.

hi jamster, that means you might have something sharp somewhere in your cage and should try to take care of it. what you should do is put him on paper towels until the wound scabs over so no dirt or whatever can get into it. you can also put a little bit of neosporin on it, not the pain killing kind! just regular neosporin. and then just let it heal. maybe if it doesnt start looking better try to get a clear picture and post it. its not bleeding or anything right? if it is then i would go to the vet.

I remember when i brought my first gecko home about 2-3 months ago .
i was new to the whole thing and she was a baby albino gecko i got from petco .. she was sold as a normal now turns out shes getting carrot tail in her tail which is awesome to me
back to a story i put repti carpet into her tank ( as baby ) and she was having trouble walking and ripped a nail .. her toe/foot was alittle bloody and lucky we have a vet down the street from us ( a reptile store called angels r us ) they told us to use peroxide on her toe .. it bubbled and fizzed ( killed germs ) and then we put a small amount of neosprom on it.. and it healed perfectly and i was a happy owner
( after that i got another gecko.. its addicting im getting some more next saturday at a snake show in hamburg pa ..

good luck .. just thought i would give you this idea ? as it helped my geckos foot( just make sure it does not go into eyes

no it isnt bleeding and since yesterday (it was only a very little cut to start with) looks like its pretty much gone. the skin around it is fraying a littl bit and i will probly attempt to slup off as much as i can. im not sure how he could have done it because there isnt anything tall for him to climb up onto and slip and cut himself, but there is a hole in the top of the coconut where you draw the milk from when its a whole one, so his leg could have slipped in and cut it slightly. i know what you mean about the peroxide solution, i used to use it sometimes when i was "becoming a man" and spots were sometimes to much, and yeah it bubble us and flushes all of the bacteria and dead skin from where ever its applied, and yeah i know not to get it in his eyes :P but, i dont really think i can remove the coconut, its the dry hide and he doesnt really like the humid hide. i've also figured out how to get him to eat kinda, i have to cut the mealworms heads off n squeeze the insides onto his nose lol, he seems to like it from time to time aswell.
