details to be worked out, I'm obviously opposed, and could probably spring loose about $100 right now, assuming we have the guy in place, etc.

I am in for $200 now.

Aaron Apr 18, 2007 11:30 PM

Aaron Mattson
$200

I must say I think a lobbyist experienced with hunters rights would be prefered over any other type of lobbyist. However I will go with whoever the majority decides would best represent us.

jpenney Apr 19, 2007 06:57 AM

I could do probably around $300 maybe more if we're close or lacking a bit.

I can give 100 this week as long as he is credible and can do the job. More next week if needed.

Thanks,

Steven

A lobbyist? I looked online and some get millions of dollars.

Will a thousand or 2 thousand make a difference?

Thanks,

Steven

10 or 20 grand might get someone to listen, more is better. we need serious money and quick.

For this issue we need to recruit funds just as we are recruiting opposition. We need to solicit funds from any and every source imaginable.

shannon brown Apr 19, 2007 12:28 PM

I can't help much at this time but will do what I can.I think that kingsnake should donate about 5k for the fund as we all support them and have for many years.Between my two sites, classifieds, banner ads,etc etc.I spend about 1k a year on Kingsnake and have since 98.

My understanding is that the lobbyist that are put on retainer by the big organizations make the big bucks. A per bill usage lobbyist (although probably not as good) is MUCH cheaper. I guess we'll find out soon.

Put me down for at least $100. I'll have to talk to the boss (wife) before committing to more.

The key is finding someone we can all trust to make the best use of our money.

I can come up with 100 now, more if things work out for me later..

What about taking this funding to the TWA and their lobbyist? I am afraid that we will fall short of needed funds and time to hire our own professional lobbyist. Or back to plan A, provide a lobbyist from one of our herp society rosters? This funding can go to them to offset an missed time at work?

Well, I guess my nonresident hunting license is going to be a tad expensive this year. I pledge $1,000. I will be DAMNED before I see these liberties stripped from my brothers in Texas
(and me too).

While I consider this an extremely important thing FOR ME TO DO, I haven’t asked the wife yet. I would have to sign an IOU to pay back our community chest with sales of my cb herps. Usually, these sales help recover the costs of frozen rodents, acquiring feeder lizards and taking road trips, but most importantly, they keep the wife from voicing her opinion that something I want to buy is too expensive

Also, there has to be a consensus that this is the best, wisest, possibly even the last chance to kill this bill – I do not want to throw this money down a rat hole. I’m getting the impression that no one on this forum is an expert in the Texas legislative process. And, this money goes only to somebody I know and trust. Hear that Joe?

Finally, if Rep-Gallego doesn’t support this bill, WHAT steps does HE recommend we take and WHEN? Have you guys already addressed this in the posts below?

Gerald Keown, Cody, Wyoming

Put me down for $100 assuming that we can still get someone on the ground there in Austin in time to do some good before this thing goes to a vote.

I'm still living in Wyoming, but planning on a return to Texas hopefully later this year.

All,

I will let you know as soon as he calls. We have about $2650 so far. Keep the donation pledges coming. If you want to pledge off forum drop me an email. We don't have pledges from some well known "alternites." If any of you know these folks give them a ring and see what they are willing to do.

at the very minimum $100, maybe much more I'm trying to see what I can get a hold of quickly.

my rep in san antonio is Frank Corte Jr.

RandRinSand Apr 19, 2007 02:23 PM

We would be able to commit to 300 maybe more later if needed.

shaky Apr 19, 2007 04:40 PM

I don't have any money at all, but I've written to every politician I could. If it does any good to write to someone outside my district (Austin), lemme know.

It would be VERY helpful to have a good reason (for Joe Anybody on the street)to oppose this thing. It SEEMS like it makes so much sense....that's what's killing us.

I am good for $100 as soon as we decide who to send it to. I have spoken with my representatives (Farabee and Estes). Both have told me that they will look into ammending the language of the bill. I would be happy to get signatures on a petition here in Wichita Falls as well.

Aaron Apr 19, 2007 08:35 PM

For the petition signatures do you mean of people from Wichita Falls?

bbox Apr 19, 2007 10:11 PM

Yes, the people in Wichita Falls. I think that I could get quite a few signatures. This was talked about in prior posts, but I have not heard anything else about it.

Aaron Apr 20, 2007 02:17 AM

I live in CA so I can't sign but I think it's a good idea.

Coach Apr 20, 2007 04:33 AM

I'm in for the going rate.
