Yoshi laid at last !!!!

kellybee Apr 19, 2007 02:42 AM

As you know she reabsorbed last summer, and again this year, twice I beleive. I think that the reason was Yoda not being interested, but since I caught them mating he has not since shown any more interest. I dont understand the hows or whys, and it doesnt really matter. I am just SOOOOOO pleased that she is healthy and was able to lay, I dont think continuous reabsorption is good for her, surely.

Anyway, we have 6 new little eggs this morning, when I say little, I mean really little. They are 2cm long, where the others were 3cm, and much fatter too. I wonder if this is because they are a different species, or because they are a larger clutch, or something else. It would be interesting to know, anyway they all look healthy to me, all have a nice pink mark.

One other thing seeing as my post is already (as always) mega long..... I am pretty sure I heard or read at some point that lizards mainly lay between 2pm and 10pm, all three of mine mine laid overnight or early morning. In addition to this, both Maggie and Yoda only went 18 days from mating to laying. I cant speak for Elvis because I didnt see her mating, but she is as of today 18 days from changing colour

I passed on the message, lol.

I had to laugh when I got home, she buried the lay box, there was very little sand left anywhere else in the immediate surrounding area, ha ha. Her viv has red sand, but I put yellow in the lay box, from the viv next door which isnt so fine, and doesnt stain. The lay box actually had a LOT of red sand inside it by the time I got here, she seems ok is resting, but is alert and eating.

And she must be a fatty because she doesnt look anywhere near skinny, she just looks normal, like a not-pregnant collared.
