Nipped toe!! Help?

profilergirl Apr 19, 2007 09:09 AM

My dragon has been hanging out in his hammock the past day or so, and not been as active. I was off today so I took him out to play and noticed one toe on his right foot got nipped! I feel so bad for him. it looks ok, it was just past the claw. But I don't understand how it happened. She eats fine, and has no companions, so I don't think it was bit. I haven't found anything in the tank though. Regardless, my main concern is making sure she stays healthy that that it heals ok. Is there anything I can or should do to make sure it doesn't get infected? Should I just let her rest, and keep offering food are normal? She doesn't seem to have much of an appetite the past 2 days, so I'm guessing that is why. I feel so bad for her

"hammack"

you said you have a hammock....i am guessing that your dragon may have got caught in it while jumping off. Something like this happened to me once. I had a log suspended from the top of my cage by string and came home one day to find my dragons tail caught in the string

if the toe is bleeding or an open sore...the first thing is to make sure that the cage is super clean. i would switch to using clean paper towels until the toe heals. maybe use some antibiotic ointment (the kind without pramoxine!) to keep it from getting infected. it should heel up fine...it happens.
