Breeding ?

DanW Apr 19, 2007 03:03 PM

My pair of corns are courting like crazy. Should I separate them and feed them every week or should I not feed until eggs are laid?

Thanks,
Dan

Separate them once a week for feeding. You can leave them apart for a day or two after feeding. It only takes one breeding to get a good clutch of eggs, although many feel that more copulations insure a greater the chance of fertility.

The female will go into a shed cycle and shed about 10 days before laying eggs. Chances are, she will not eat in the 2-3 weeks prior to egglaying. The male may not be very interested in eating throughout the entire courtship period.

Offering the animals smaller-than-normal sized food items may increase their feeding response at this time.
