i bought one amazon tree boa and it died within a week of bringing it home.i felt the animal must have been stressed from the trip from florida to pa. but i found out i cant keep them in the same set up as i have my ball pythons and redtails. well im ready to lick my wounds and try agian but this time with more info.

i have decided on an enclosure pmh herps 24x12x12 cage 60 bucks
how much flexwatt will i need? how wide? 3" or 11"

If possible, I would use some type of overhead heating and scrap the flexwatt idea. Under tank heating isn't very ideal for an arboreal animal.

By the way, where in PA are you located? I am also in PA. Shoot me an email if you are so inclined.

should have known all of this BEFORE you got the animal....

the cage, IMO, is inappropriate for anything other than a neonate amazon. the're TREE BOAS. they like to climb. taller is better. you can stand what you have on end, but will end up being too narrow before too long.

as for heating - a good constant 80F tends to work well. How this has to be done in your instance is unknown. For example, most of my animals are in one room that is constantly heated to 80F, so my tree boas do not receive any futher heating. Otherwise, I'd suggest heat tape along one of the sides of the cage, from bottom to top. 3"... 11"... doesn't matter so long as the cage is about 80F - so whatever it tanks.

humidity should also be kept about 80%. ATBs are much more forgiving with this, but 80% is a good target.
