things other than snakes,lizards,etc...
I have a couple jundred old price lists from the late 80 though the later 90s.
I also have been collecting reptile related business cards for about 17 years or so.I lost a few key ones along the way like Lloyd Lemkes and some others but I got them all together and here they are.
Just thought maybe you would like to see it.

Hope you enjoyed them.

Impressive collection, I mean because they are in alphabetical order! Here’s a few I didn’t see in your collection. It was very interesting to see, I think it would be cool for kingsnake.com to have a business card listing like a directory, especially for the four people who still don’t have websites! I would love for you to scan a couple of vintage price lists- that would really bring back some memories for me. Thanks for the post!

I knew I had the Gulf Coast one so I went and looked at my post and that page didn't show.So here it is.
I would love to have those you have if you want to part with them.LOL....

Hey Shannon

Do you know what happened to those "anery" agalmas that Matt used to work with? Is he or anyone still working with those? BTW, you're missing Seven Generation Reptiles' business card, hehe jp. Take care.

Yeah, along with Lemkes and ernie Wagners card I probably miss placed about ten to 15 old cards.I have 7 generations big color fold out price list but lost the card.

On the agalma,I had a pair of hets raising them up and I lost the female two years ago in hibernation.I eneded up selling my het male to Dunham/Montoya.
I know Ric Blair had some but I think he lost most of them.I know Applegate had some also but I don't think they ever got off the ground.
Weird thing is some of the babies look normal and turn pink later in life???

Do you have a seven Generations card?

Hey Shannon

Sorry but I don't have any of those business cards. I used to collect those also but I was accidentally thrown away during a big spring cleaning at the house.

Too bad about those agalmas. They were quite unique and I remember thme being very beautiful animals from those old pics that Matt sent around. Do you think the line/mutation had some weak genes to begin with? Since they were never established even with some of the most experienced keeppers like Rick, Bob, and yourself. Maybe the line just lacked the vigor. I remember something similar to what Lloyd Lemke used to call as Anery Cal Kings years ago. A couple of people I know, myself included, bought a couple of them back then but was not able to establish a single breeding pair. I wonder if those still exist or they were just not meant to be, as nature intended.

Anyway, talk to you later

Thanks Jonel, bummer they got thrown out.
I do believe that the axanthic (or whatever it is) gene is pretty weak in the agalma.I believe this to be in many cases. These morph snakes we love so much wouldn't make it in the wild except for a tiny percentage as they do here and there. The normal stronger ones are meant to survive but we decide3 in the hobby whats good for them.LOL.....

Shannon, I used to keep old price lists too but they didnt survive my last move. Just like you had some nostalgia posting those cards I think alot of people would be interested in posting OLD price lists....
I have always been a NA type of guy, and I remember having lists from GLADES and FAUNA back in 90-91 with some AMAZING prices, lol. I would bet the newbies(

Shannon, sorry about this. But it would be awesome for you to post the PRICE LISTS for so many reasons. The newer guys can take a look at what we started from, what was prevelant, what we had to work with, who had what, what was successful and what was lost to time.
Call it a history lesson, I swear when we are done it will enough for a book. Some can relate to successes and failures. Some can see how many COOL snakes were lost because either the collector or the breeder couldnt get em going,,,,didnt make an arrangement with a FULL TIME herp specialist(there arent that many). I am sure from some of your lists we can see who was NAUGHTY, and maybe they will even respond to their actions. We can see all the serious breeders who have stood the test of time. We can see how many got burnt out (or married, lol). We can get a book out of it I am sure, but start it Shannon....I cant wait!! I used to have the old GLADES, FAUNA, CRUTHFIELD and other lists from the 80s/90s but they didnt survive the last move. I bet you have em....Thanks in advance! Jeff

Jeff,
I will take some pics of some as soon as I get a few extra minutes.I sometimes take a look through them just to see how far we have came. Its funny to look at black milks and andeans (normals mind you) for $800.00each.

A thread to talk about the people, the snakes, the history, and the one that got away.....For us that lived through it, GREW up and into it really, there is nothing like nostalgia. Remember when NOONE had pics and we had to buy milks sight unseen?? LOTS of things to talk about there....Its breeding season though, first things first. Take care of those that take care of you and get back to use when you can. Thanks,Jeff

Since it’s the weekend I had time to dig out a few old price lists. I use to have a bunch that were very much older than these, but I threw them away, never imagining I’d wish I could reflect on the “good old days”. Now some of you younger guys would see a price list from 1996 and think that those were the good old days. I could scan and post any of these that I have, and I have a bunch more, but I wasn’t sure if that was cool to post these or not without permission? I figured I’d show a few titles, and just one page from Lemke that shows the classic and often repeated description of the Anerythristic Brooks as “looks like black and blue wax”. Ah, the good old days! Check out het for albino Nelson’s Milks for $1,000.00 each! Good old days my AZZ!!! You kids today are sooooo spoiled!!!
Enjoy!

Of note-
Vince Sheidt 1994- Hypomelanistic Brooks $650.00 each!! (I don’t think he actually had any yet...)
Tom Crutchfield- Albino American Alligator $175,000.00 each (incredible list!!)

Of note-
The Snake Doctor Albino Ruthveni Kingsnakes $750.00 each!
Seven Generations 1995 Andean Milks- $400.00 each; Orange Pueblans- $250.00
Possible het albino Ball Pythons- $1,000.00 each
Living Jewels- Red Bearded Dragons $200.00 each; New Caledonia Giant Geckos $4,500.00 pair!!
Premier Reptiles “Future projects”- Hypomelanistic Hondurans! How exciting!!!
Miami Reptiles- “If God made it I got it!!!”

Of note-
Peter Kahl Albino Boa (Imperator) $10,000.00 each
The Snake Room- Black Milks $750.00 each!!
Community Herptoculture- Indigos- $300.00 each

Just page two for your viewing pleasure...
the great Lloyd Lemke list...

Anybody else???

shannon brown Apr 22, 2007 01:13 PM
