PRIVATE FORUM ????

Eby Apr 20, 2007 10:31 AM

Is it possible for someone to set-up a private forum ???

There is a lot of strategy and behind the scenes manuevering that we should discuss in private.

I just found out about a possible solution (at least partial) to this problem, but the staffer that told me said too public discussion could damage their efforts to help us. This is from a reps office that is definitely on our side.

And someone whined about not wanting to be left out or something. You are correct. We need some talks about hard nosed tactics and they need to be kept out of the public (LE)
eyes...

Yes... I am talking about you LE! You went behind our backs
to try to remove our privelege to hunt.

Thanks EBY for all your hard work.

Steve,
Respectfully, take a step back. We need to lose the "in your face" attitude and approach this from the proper channels.

I apologize in advance for calling you out here and about this, but IMO it is not beneficial to our cause and for that reason we don't need it.

Regards
Joe

Troy and others work very hard with TP&W, and it has led
us to this point. I let the facts speak for themselves.

As always Joe I appreciate your time, effort and advice.

I just happen to disagree with you this particular time.

Best Wishes,

Steven

here is a personal reason to reevaluate the "in your face" attitude.

When they pull you over late at night out in West Texas and you hand over your Driver's License, you don't want them to make the connection between you and your "in your face" posts. Or maybe you do?

I certainly don't want that attitude associated with myself in any way shape or form. For me this bill won't alter the amount of time I spend in west Texas, although it would alter my activities while I'm in west Texas.

We are a group, and collectively our voice is reflected by each and every one of us.

But It will not cause me to be more or less cooperative.
If they are going to give me a ticket, then my posts on the forum will probably not change it... If it passes I will just have a camera with me. No tools for hunting or means of take or capture. So they can do what they will...

The fact that Lance has been in their face has helped us out
in the past. Especially after Rock Cut. We get pulled over and they say "your name is familiar" and he says "Yeah cause you tried to Jack me in Rock cut and it didn't work". They say "no comment" and "have a nice day"...

Who knows.. This whole thing is frustrating... I look for someone to blame. Maybe it is ourselves for trusting TP&W.
Maybe it is TP&W. Maybe it is because we are too public now and should get back to the quiet days of private forums...

Like I said before... I will be out, and not surprised if I get the first ticket. It is just my luck.

Ranting Done

what is needed is in your face, buttkicking not kissing, people in this forum need to wake up, this bill will pass if folks dont get serious about it and take a strong stand, writting and calling the little we do will do nothing, explaining how you will sit outside the congressmans office on the 10 oclock news with a picket sign will send a clear strong message

Eby Apr 20, 2007 07:56 PM

Tanks,
We may well get "in their face" at some point. However, if we play our cards right, that won't happen. If we come across as arrogant jerks who only care about "our rights", it will only reinforce the negative stereotype that they've been fed by certain LE.

You are WRONG if you think they are laughing at our calls and letters. I wish I was able to post details on all of the positive responses that I have gotten.

I contacted all the reps with the assumption that they had good intentions and calmly explained some of the unintended consequences of this bill. Many have been very open to this reasoning. If I had called or written and given orders and made threats, they'd have hung up and written us off as a bunch of crazed wackos.

Just my humble opinion.

Dude, it wasn't a matter of whining, more a matter making sure that we stand united as a group.

mred Apr 20, 2007 03:43 PM

and the "in your face" attitude w/ LE is part of what brought this on IMHO. at this point we either stand together an beat this (or get it repealed) or we break up into seperate cells with different agendas and we all suffer. take your pick.

now there is an idea, lets get serious or just laugh about it when it happens. this does nothing to effect me since i only take pics now, but if you people wanna get serious i can join if not kiss your hobby good bye

Ditto to Eby, you are hitting the pavement hard for us and I appreciate it!

Todd,

Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully, we'll all be hitting the pavement in west Texas soon (I'm going out tonite!) and for ever more.

Regarding my work in this fight: I figured since I seem destined to NEVER find a live Alterna, my best bet at earning any "street cred" would be to defend everyone elses right to keep making me look bad. Perhaps a real alterna hunter will take pitty and let me ride shotgun.

heheh, just cause you haven't caught one YET, doesn't mean you aren't one!
