1.2 Breeding?

kevmimcc Aug 14, 2003 01:24 AM

Is it possible or recommended to breed a single male to two or more females? I would really appreciate some info.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

I have a male that can handle 4 females. If it is healthy and has a large spermcount it may handle even more. 1.2 breeding is common practice IMO.

Last year I bred one male to 12 females. One of which was bred again for a second clutch. Out of those 13 clutches, 11 resulted in hatchlings. I think a single copulation is sufficient, provided the males sperm is good. You can see the breeding results at the link below.
