my first litter

patoquack Apr 20, 2007 05:14 PM

I've been reading posts about first litters for the past 4 years and finally get to post my own first litter.
I haven't been able to resize the photos yet to fit Kingsnake so see the attached link for a few photos.

There were 30 live babies total and a few that didn't make it. this was the female's first litter - she is a 2003 likely supersalmon I bought directly from Brandon at Summit Reptiles and the father is either a nice aberrant normal produced by DM Exotics or a Hypo Harlequin I purchased from Tim Magee. All 30 babies are salmons and some appear to be possible supersalmons so I am hoping the father was the hypo harlequin.

congratulations to all the other successfull breeders so far this year. I have to say, this was pretty exciting and very much worth the long wait.. and I have one more Salmon female that is looking very large right now...

Congrats on a beautiful litter!!! Was the female produced by D&M exotics or D&M Breeders?

patoquack Apr 21, 2007 12:04 AM

The female is a likely supersalmon produced by Brandon of Summit Reptiles in 2003.. (I'm saying "likely" supersalmon because all the babies in this litter were salmons).

I bred her with two different males - one was a very nice aberrant normal produced by Dan of DM Exotits in 2004 (from a litter that apparently had some nice striped individuals).
the other male I had her with was a 2004 hypo Harlequin that was produced by Tim Magee.

28 of the 30 have shed.
...so far tonight, one fed (2 f/t pinkie mice).. 29 more to go..

If both males bred, they could both be fathers of different babies. I've heard a case of it before. So, you probably do have some supers in there!
