wow. You know, I would have that many, had half of each clutch not been duds. Still REALLY irked about that. I was expecting a big season this year. What a big let down so far.

Glad to hear yours is going well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Misty,
Sorry you have had troubles. I did have the problems with my stripe creams, and the cream/ultra pairing and my snow that only laid three eggs.
I also had a female normal that only laid three slugs.
I was wondering about her, though.
Last season I bred her to a normal male and she had a couple of slugs.
This season I tried her with a different male (normal motley)to see if it was her or the original male.
It appears as if it's her. I will not breed her again so she will just be a beautiful normal "pet"...lol

But even with those setbacks things have been going reasonably well.
By the way...the count hit 100 a little while ago...the ghost dropped another egg...lol
looks like she has 2 to go.

I also wanted to add that I hope the rest of the season goes better for you. Keep your head up.

Hey, I got an e-mail from Kin.
She's doing OK. Keeping busy.

Hi Jimmy, I just wanted to pass on some info a very well known Milk Snake breeder told me once. He had a Ghost Honduran back when they were very high dollar, and the snake looked perfect. She threw slugs for a season or two and he decided as an experiment to not change a thing and keep breeding the same pair year after year. After about 6 seasons she produced a fertile clutch and continued to produce fertile clutches.
Why? Who knows.....but sometimes I wonder if some individual snakes are simply different than the norm and take longer to become mature? Many people would try other males....and sometimes this yields better results. Still, in this one case...someone took the time to really see what would happen if he continued doing things the same with the exact pair and in this instance it worked.
People will most likely say that this is only one isolated incident. This is true..........but the fact is 99% of us probably would not have tried this experiment so who knows? Maybe sometimes it is only a matter of age? Just something to think about as far as considering the one snake that didn't produce for you becoming a pet. Good luck with the rest of your clutches Tom Stevens
