sub adult/adult w/anole

blueta Apr 20, 2007 05:56 PM

Well after many years my super tame emerald tree boa died. I will miss her greatly, but I decided instead of getting another one (I was so spoiled with her temperment and feeding I didn't want to get another one who was worse), I'll try an amazon. I'll be going to the upcoming northern berks show in search of one. I'm leaning towards a sub adult to adult because it will be going in my 70 gallon ETB setup and I don't know how well a small individual will fare in something so large. If it'll do fine then I have no problem with that so any input on that will be appreciated. This leads me to my dilema. I noticed one day that I had an anole that could have only come from a plant I put in there. I have no idea how long it's been in there, but it has to be at least 2 years because I haven't put anything new in there for that long. After having this little thing for so long I can't see getting rid of it, and I don't have any room in my already cramped apartment for another cage. Does anyone think that the amazon will turn and eat my little guy? The ETB never bothered it since she was about 5'. Here's a pic of my emerald I took about a year ago.

An Emerald would likely ignore the anole
but
an Amazon will likely see a good meal in it

Thats what I was thinking. Well the anole is getting old anyway so I guess it's destiny is in the belly of an amazon

I just had a thought, if I were to keep the anole in there and the amazon did eat it I don't want to get the amazon hooked on eating anoles since I've read that they can be problematic eaters sometimes. Any truth to this (the getting hooked on anole part)?

perhaps with younger ones
but ATBs are normal fierce feeders that i'd not imagine much of anything to become a problem
