Question from a newbie...

Shadow4108 Apr 20, 2007 07:44 PM

I've read this forum many times doing "research", and I have seen this question bring about heated debates. But I was wondering. I had a bp years several years ago but for reasons beyond my control I had to sell her. I'm looking to get something beyond the "normal" phase. How would you all rate them price wise. Normals being the cheapest. What morph would be the next step up. I would LOOOOOOOVE to have a pied ball, but they are way to much for my price range. .. most i've seen being priced in the $3000 range. What would you all suggest for say somewhere under $200 (shipping inc.) Thanks. PS: I'm not looking to ever breed.. just a pet.

Pastels would be the next step up if you want visuals.

Het males go for around that price, but they won't look any different from a normal.

A male pastel would run you about $200 shipped, depending on who you got it from. You can definatly get one for around $250-300.

Unfortunately for $200 or less your only option for a visual morph is a pastel male a female would run you around $300 plus - the next cheapest is a spider at about $700 and then a half a dozen different morphs at $1000 give or take a few hundred.

For more info on pastels you can check out: Hunters guide to Pastels

What is better for someone looking to purchase just as a pet? Male or female? Are there any downsides to either?
